Are these baity?
« on: January 28, 2012, 10:07:20 AM »
Hello everyone
I recently won 17 ponies for £2 off Ebay which was fantastic, most are all in bait preparation already and was super pleased on this auction, a couple of G1s were included and want to make sure I am not about to customise something others may want or should not do, only 4:

No ideas on this girl as symbols gone think ok to use - stamped 84.

Stamped 82 - Blossom

some sort brother pony, if look really hard symbol is there but clear ladder and hose..

I am happy to use these as baits when needed but would be mortified to find out afterwards I shouldnt have!

1. MM Cuddles I think?  With her color changing symbol gone, shes fair game.  She is a common pony.

2. Blossom.....are her feet weird and flat or normal and concave?  If they are flat, I wouldn't bait her, if they are concave she is a common pony and looks to have faded symbols.  Does she have any body discoloration?

3. Sunlight with glitter loss, rust spots, and face discoloration above her ds eye....personally I would probably bait her.  She is a very common pony and there are few collectors looking for her in that condition.

4. Chief- A beloved Big brother, but with no symbols and a fairly yellowed body, personally I would say bait.  Especially if he has brown cancer spots.

Just my two cents, I'm all for restoring G1s if they just need a clean up and touch up, but if you've got super common ones in bad condition, I don't have a problem with baiting them.  Not everyone will agree though...

Hmm... took another look at Chief, he isn't that discolored.  That's a toughie.  Does he have any body discoloration?

thanks colorscapesart!

Brill 1 is good,
2. checking feet - concave brill into baiting box!
3. brill again
4. I bow to identifying skills - cancer spots can you see those or is that something that generally happens (new to this ;))

Oh on the edit lol: do these pics help at all?

Me and my partner have had a look at him and he seems pretty clean, cant see any discoloured spots just the symbols faded?

Yeah, his main issue seems to be that his symbols are gone.  His head might be a tad more yellow than his body?

He's borderline I think.  A toughie.  You could try to resell him or see if there is interest.  I think most collectors would not want a symbol-less pony, but Chief is well loved.

thanks so much :) I will have to have a look at him again as in a drawer now ;) I think I will offer him to a dear friend first as bagsies and then if there is interest rather a good home then custom - thank you so much for the advice.

I'd use the first three as bait, but not Chief. I'm sure someone would be more than happy to restore him.
Looking for: Alternate Birthflowers, Baity wingers, So softs - both minty and for deflocking - and DREAM BEAUTIES!
