Displaying pony combs and brushes?
« on: January 27, 2012, 04:21:46 PM »
Has anyone come up with a neat way of displaying their pony combs and brushes? I don't want to leave them in a bag or box. They might as well be with their ponies, but I'm wondering if there's a better way than to just set their combs beside them. We are getting ready to finally set up our pony room (really the back of a large closet).

I don't display mine, so I don't have a clever way of doing so.

But I do store mine in a little tub :) Each one is in a little baggie that is marked with the names :)

I put mine in one of those kitchen containers, like the kind that stores flour and stuff.  It's clear, so you can see the brushes.  But when I get a pony room and redo everything, I'd kind of like to display the brushes with their ponies.  Not sure about the best way to do that, but here are some other suggestions:

Hang on a string around pony's neck

Use craft containers with divided compartments so you can label  the  brushes.  These are easy to find at craft stores now; people who make jewelry use them a lot.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

My G3's have their brushes tied around their necks, but I assumed you were talking about G1 ;)

I have brushes stored in two ways- one is the giant jar, like kellyponyfeathers mentioned. Mine is a cleaned-out pickle jar, but same idea. The other is an over-the-door organizer meant for hot wheels cars. It holds about 100-150 brushes, each in their own little pocket. I've also used it for sorting the tiny things, like baby accessories and shoes, but the pockets work perfectly for combs. I got mine at a yard sale, but I'm sure there are some on ebay!
If you wanted to label each pocket, it wouldn't be hard, or you can sort the combs by color and have a rainbow. Right now I've just got the combs with their own kind- bears, racecars, shooting stars, etc.
Thanks so much to Calico_Star for her beautiful work on my Avatar!

I have my wagons and saddles and stuff like that with my ponies, though I may have to tie them around their necks because I have a whole load of them.

I was going to say, one of those over-the-door organizers would work great!

Wow, I guess the jar idea is popular... I've always kept mine in a jar as well! I like how they look all together in one pile... it's very colorful.

I think a shadow box thing would be kinda neat! Draw up the ponies symbol and the comb/brush sits on top of that. At the moment mine are all in a jar.
