Pullip questions~
« on: January 26, 2012, 01:26:20 PM »
Eeeeek, I'm starting to really like Pullips   they used to creep me out but now I just.... want!

I have a few questions though, before I really decide to save up for one...

Can you change out their eyes? And if so, can a person like me who has no experience like that change them out without breaking something? (I know which one I like the most so far, but her eye color isn't really doing it for me)

Their wigs, how do they go on? Do they just sit on them or is their something that attaches them more securely? Can I see a picture showing it if there is?

And last but not least, what sites are the most reliable to buy from? I see them being sold all over the place on the internet and I don't know if I trust all of them...

:what:  thanks for any answers, guys! Sorry if it all seems like common knowledge, I'm new to pullipssss.

Hello!
Yes you can change their eyes but its not recommended unless you read up and watch some videos on how its done.
RequiemArt has some fantastic tutorials. :D

Wigs come set with glue, but you can interchange them. I've used velcro and hot glue to set wigs/

At the moment, Pullip style is the most reputable place. Try www.pullipstyle.com

Hiya!  I was the same way...they kinda creeped me out at first, but now I love my boys and girls!  I'm still not convinced about Byul >.>

As for your questions:
1. - The tutorials are good, and I'm completely inexperienced, but I was able to open up several of mine and change them.  Changing bodies is also quite easy (Pullip stock bodies are notoriously fragile, and don't pose as well as others do).

2. - Yep, stock wigs are glued on, so you kinda have to tug them off, but they are only glued around the edges, so once you get one place detached, they pretty much just peel off.  I can show you pics when I get home...I don't have any on my work computer.  I also velcro mine down, or buy elastic banded wigs, so they stay on by themselves.

3. - For buying new dolls, I always go to www.pullipstyle.com  They ship quickly and pretty cheaply.  Also, they have rotating specials on certain dolls, so you can sometimes get one you want for relatively cheaply.  I got a new Dal on there for less than some people were trying to sell her used.  BUT, for used dolls, clothes, etc I am a fan of Dolly Market  http://forums.dollymarket.net/

Feel free to ask more questions!  Pullips aren't as confusing to me as BJDs, but I know it can be a lot to take in at first, lol.

The last time I ordered a doll it was around $12-15 for Priority Shipping and $7ish for the lowest, standard rate.

I have 2 pullips and I changed one of their eyes out recently.  It was a little delicate, but if you're careful and have steady hands there shouldn't be a problem.

Pullip Style sells them new at good prices and you can buy used dolls at Dolly Market.  I bought one of my girls used on eBay (a nude/bald Hello Kitty for about $65) and my other girl here at the Arena (a Latte with full stock and extras from Loa).

Wow thanks! So the wigs are glued on. Well that's not so bad I guess.

What other bodies do people use for Pullips? I like the look of the pullip bodies but fragile isn't really my cup of tea  :drunk:

You can use Obitsu bodies for pullips, which I recommend buying form Junkyspot http://junkyspot.com/obindex.html

As for shipping from Pullipstyle, they often have really great deals for Americans (since they're a US company) with shipping as low as $4!

I am a huge wimp when it comes to any form of customising, but even I have managed to change eyechips, bodies & wigs on Pullips with success! I'm in the UK but lots of my dolls have come from Pullip Style; I highly recommend them :)
