Sorry this topic is a bit random/pointless, but I'm so excited that I MUST share!!!

I have been working on this project since last May. Grandpa gave me all his old photo/slide albums and we went through them together (got rid of a TON of pictures) and then I started to scan/crop/label the remaining ones.

Other than about 100 more crops/labeling, I'm DONEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

I went hardcore and this forum has been keeping me sane the past several days, all day. I'd scan and label a few, then check back for a few minutes.

Next up I'm doing my Grandma's pictures...... >_>

Grandpa is really happy. A lot of these prints are 2x3" and they are hard for him to see. Blown up on the computer screen, he can actually tell who is who lol.

Wow, I can relate to what you were going through! I have only scanned a few recently, and that was already A LOT of work! But with 2500! WOW! Your grandpa must be so happy now!

WoW that is a lot of work!! I know I've been slowly going through all the photo albums, It takes a lot of time to scan crop label! What takes the most time is trying to label the older pictures as it takes awhile for my mom to remember who a lot of the people are. LOL
But its nice to have them, Not only so they can be scene better but the peace of mind of knowing there are back up copies of those irreplaceable photos!! As I digitalized my photos I have copies sent to both my brothers, on my laptop on my back up hard drive and onto CDs in the fire safe. Which may seem like over kill but last February my dear friend's house burned down and everything was lost including all of the family photos.

Which is what prompted me to start backing up my photos.

That's really scary, Ravenwolf!!! I feel so sorry for your friend!! I don't think storing the files in so many places is over kill at all. Our house halfway burnt down once and we were so fortunate our photos didn't get ruined- it sure woke me up some lol. Flash drives crash sometimes, CDs get scratched.. stuff just happens. I have made several copies too!! They are getting sent around the family because everybody wants a copy anyway.

Wow, that's an awesome project! I definitely think putting them all on an external drive or 2 and then storing those at different houses would be a good idea, just in case of a fire or something.
