Food coloring and watercolor?? Wow did they ever turn out great!  I would have never thought to use those.  I am with the group that uses Rit Dye for mine.  I have searched for the before pictures but I can't seem to locate them so I guess I'll just have to post the after pics.  Both of these ponies had completely faded to white hair when they arrived to me.  The first picture was the best picture I could find of Wind Whistler showing the true color of her re-pinking.

Wow they are all beautiful! I don't think we get Rit dye here in the UK...not sure about using food dye either in case it came off onto another pony. What is the longest anyone has had a repinked pony with no colour transferance?

If you keep the hair a little bit above the water, the dye travels upwards towards the root without actually having to dip the root into the water itself. I used rit dye, so I don't have any idea about food colouring staining or not. I'm sure if it the water never touches the pony itself it should be fine. :)

Oh! I'm loving these photos and techniques! Keep 'em coming  :)

I haven't had trouble with staining (using food colour). Obviously I'm pretty careful about it, and a bit like other dye I suppose the whole process is so brief that provided you wash the pony quickly there shouldn't be any trouble :)   I do wonder when I'll make my first cock-up though!  :P

Here's my other two re-pinks, both of whom had white hair before:

   Thank you!

I do adore her; she was one of the first ponies I got when I got back into MLP (and my first re-pink!). Picked her up in a bulk lot.

I LOVE your baby Wind Whistler!

I'm all for repinking, so well done!

My "victims" include Posey, Steamer and NSS Wind Whistler (now one of my herd favorites).

Thanks for the advice...those pics are awesome. I do have a NSS Wind Whistler who's hair is whiter than white. She's so badly faded even her whistles are white! Always seems strange looking at ones with pink hair. She may be my first 'victim'...
