MH Customising help!!
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:52:26 PM »
The little girl next door just gave me her Draculaura because she didn't want her anymore, but she'd drawn tattoos all over the poor girl in permanent marker, and even drew on her face, adding eyeliner, over the eyebrows and a heart on her face. I've decided it's a wash trying to bring her back, and have been trying strip her face and start over, but don't know where to start. A magic eraser took the 'tattoos' off (mostly) but the face is giving me problems. Any hints/tips/tricks you all can share?

You could try sunfading.

that's true. I was going to go to walmart tomorrow, try to find some straight acetone. I got most of it off...but that permanent marker on her face is soooo stubborn. Nail polish remover stripped the eye paint, but not the marker. Poo.

You'd find with the marker on her face, it would have seeped into the vinyl. So acetone won't get it all off.

I would suggest a repaint. Sadly markers contain alcohols that go deep into the plastic, specially MH heads that are made of soft plastic. Evil kids :P

Iawtc.

As someone who once upon a time used perm-markers on the supple softness of barbie heads, it's not gonna come off. I'd go full re-paint too, unless you can work the markers into the design you do on her face. If it's just eye liner, perhaps that can become "eyeshadow" since it usually seeps.

i agree, full repaint is your best option. tho a lighter color (such as pale pink, yellow or white) might end up being a lot of layers of paint to cover the marker....if it doesn't seep thru the paint :<

Thanks everyone. I'll try to find that same pale pink that is Draculaura's skin tone and repaint. Thanks very much for the advice!

While full repaint seems like the best,Try acrylic brush clean.Seriously, acetone does not COMPARE to this for MH heads!I didn't even need to scrub and it took off ALL the black on lalas head that I'm customizing! Please try it.Just don't get it on the actual body or it will leave this sticky gunk.

...Oh, I bought the same shade of pink as the original skin. Was that not what I wanted to do?

You can repaintcertainally, just know it will be a pain to rehair after doing so.I personally would try any and ever possibility to get rid of the stains first, but ultimately its your doll.
