flutter pony hair?
« on: January 21, 2012, 12:45:30 PM »
i recently found a Rosedust and a Honeysuckle (among a few others) at a charity shop and intend to clean them up and make them sellable, but looking at their hair, it's pretty crazy and i know i can do the ol' conditioner/straighteners/curling trick to give them the nice smooth "flutter pony curl" that i've done with others, but the way the curls are all tight and in little bunches made me wonder if this was their original curl just messed up from play?

here's Rosedust:

i'm pretty sure i could spend some time combing and smoothing the curls back into a nice looking style, but i didn't know if this is what the flutter ponies hair was meant to be like originally (and so if it's worth not just straightening the lot)?

That's quite a mess! I don't think she was that curly brand new. Here's a picture of her MIB (not mine);

Looks like someone curled her hair, played with her, then she was put in a box for about a decade and jostled around.

They look like original curl. I would take a straw and some water and just tame the original curls back in place (just to make the fly-away strands not so messy). ^_^ I found a Bouncy with hair like that and it looks original, so that's what I did. Rosedust looks pretty with curls!

The ponies used for the commercial are prototypes.

The curls are original but messy, as Firefly said. Here's a simple tutorial to style them again: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/hair.html#Curls
