Right now I just want to finish my US G1 collection then mail orders. After that comes the G1 Euros, of which I own many, but having a complete collection of those is not a major want. I do want to complete my MIB G3s. I am rather close on that goal and only need a few foreign issues along with the Menard's set.

You know, I've never really thought about that. I guess I'll consider it complete when i achieve all my wanted ponies..as there are ponies that I'm not actively looking for since I don't care for them....

As long as they keep making ponies....never? It's a dream to own every pony made. There are so many that it would take a lifetime to achieve. Plus, since I've been out of the loop off and on the past few years, some new discoveries have been made like Colombian ponies. Who else knows what will show up? It's never ending. I couldn't even afford to own them all anyways.

I would just like to get all of the G1 US ponies. I don't need that many more. Maybe one day I will have them all!

Interesting question. I've never really thought about it.

My collection consists of several hundred ponies, mostly G1s. I've got quite a few rare ones (one of the many good things about growing up in Germany). Still, I don't think I'll ever consider my collection complete. There are so many nice ponies out there, waiting for me. I mostly buy ponies on car boot sales and in charity shops. I don't set myself goals. If I see a nice pony, and it's reasonably priced, I take it. I like the excitement of making a good bargain. I hope that'll never stop.

My collecting will be done when there are no longer any ponies I want. I collect all gens, so this probably means never.

Hathorcat, the description of your collection makes me want to see some pictures of it.

I don't really have a pony end game. I got into it from G4, but my G3 collection very quickly outnumbered my G4 collection. Right now I'm hoping it's not a fad, and that I can stick with it. Despite being a male of the species (and bald), I like fashion, and hair. I read a lot of fashion and hair blogs. So, for me, ponies are an outlet to futz with hair. I hope I can stick with it, I do enjoy it, they're very vibrant and colourful toys. I like having a shelf full of multi-coloured ponies. I don't think I have a 'complete', but a goal would be to have my ponies on display when I get a recording studio up and running. I currently work as a freelance audio engineer, doing location recording, but I want to settle down with a home studio, and when I do, I totally want to have a pony wall in the lounge.

@DoctorMowinckel - thanks! One day when I finally get my website finished I ll post some pics!!! Its a long time in the collecting...I think your collection sounds as if you are long past any potential fad stage with it! Personally for me I love G1 so much because there is so much variation - so many designs - I think its quite fascinating to look at how essentially the same product has been changed over the years from design, to marketing, to size, to strategy - its a very cool showing of how things change!
Thank you Matcha for my gorgeous Baby Fifi avi

If I see a pony I like, I buy it.  And there are many ponies I like, so I don't see my collection every being complete!

I think that mine is nearly there. I'm kind of down to the expensive end of my want list. That's for the ponies anyway. I have a lot of complete sets but generally just the sets I really like. I'm limited by funds and space.

As far as my armies go, I'm not sure at what point I'll be done with those. I don't actively go out out of my way to buy ponies for them, but if I see one ending low with no bids, I'll pop one on, or if I'm buying some ponies from a seller and they have a reasonably priced pony for my army then I'll pick them up.

Then there are accessories though! I don't want accessories for every pony, but I want my favorite sets of pony wear, and I want my D&P army to all have accessories. :)

Customs too - that collection will never be complete. ;)

I'll consider my collection complete based on having every G1 US store pony and US (first release) playset. I think this is possible, may take a decade or so...
