I just finished reading 'Sins of the Father' - the untold story behind Schapelle Corby's ill-fated drug run.  It was very thought provoking.

I'm also about halfway done with The Two Towers.  I got a Kindle for Christmas (OMG I love it!) and read the Hobbit first.  Then I bought a digital copy of the 50th anniversary edition of LOTR (I own the hardcopy of that edition, it's big and bound in red leather), which is the most accurate version published and has all 3 books in one, as originally intended.  I should have all of them finished by the end of the month

Hooray, you have wonderful taste!  I am about as big a Tolkien nut as you will ever find.  I've read every single Middle Earth-related book published (including the Silmarillion, which was a toughie) and in high school I studied Quenya and the Tengwar in my free time.  *is a nerd*

Every December, since I was 12, I've re-read the entirety of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I don't really do holidays, and I don't identify with any sort of religions, so reading Lord of the Rings becomes my December sabbatical.

I just finished up Cinderella Ate my Daughter, which talks about how young girls are, from a young age, pressured into wearing pink, and being generally frilly. If you're into gender equality and feminism, it's a good read.

I've been meaning to start on 1Q84. I heard it was long, took place in Japan, and involves murder, I think. I'm not sure, but that was enough to make me interested. Have a copy of it, just need to dig in.
