I live on the border of IA/IL and there are not really any near me so I have adopted the WI meet as my annual one! So it's a little bit of a drive but it's always worth it!

I could do Lansing. We still need to hear about a host though, that makes a difference. Didn't you guys say someone normally does host one? Did someone volunteer in the pervious thread? Looks like we have 6 people interested so far. Are there others you know that we could PM and drag in on this conversation?

What about if we just meet for an extended lunch at a restaurant in Grand Rapids or Lansing somewhere - that way no one has to "host" per se? And everyone who comes could come with a "pony" activity for everyone????? What does everyone think about that?

Meeting at a restaurant is a great idea, though I don't know if we could do any activities there... I don't think there'd be enough space and we wouldn't want to disturb other customers.

What about a park? Is there a public park we could meet at? My mom has two tables I could borrow. If there aren't that many of us coming, we wouldn't need that many tables to set stuff up on.

There are restaurants with kind of "private" rooms or areas, we'd need someone in the city we settled on to pick an appropriate location, so we'd have some freedom and privacy. I know in my area, I have restaurants I frequent that I could talk to the owners and get permission to bring a "pony party" to the restaurant. My worry with a park is with people traveling, we're totally dependent on nice weather on the day we pick. Just a thought! Maybe Lansing is kind of central for everyone. I think it's half way between me and Grand Rapids, and maybe the group from Grand Rapids could carpool???? Is there anyone contemplating attending from Grand Rapids? If not, I can volunteer to scout out a restaurant that might work. What does everyone think?

Lansing would be much better for me than GR, and I do think that a party room at a restaurant would be a much better option than a park due to the weather factor!

That might be an idea. Could be fun. I'd only be sad about one thing - missing out on the chance to see if people nearby had anything they wanted to swap or sell.

- Is anyone contemplating coming, from Lansing - or familiar with Lansing? Otherwise I can google Lansing restaurant w/ party room, lol!

- What dates are people open to? I'd like a date well before the big pony fair, so the pony meet wouldn't impact my pony funds for the fair. Perhaps a Saturday in May? Any suggestions?

- I think once we settle on a date/location, we find out who all is coming, and make a sign up for everyone to be in charge of a pony activity for the group to do.

I vote for Ann Arbor! Only cuz I live here and was raised here so I'm a bit biased about its awesomeness. (State fans, put down your Fakies...I went to Eastern and don't participate in the Great Divide LOL) I'm not a big fan of driving to Grand Rapids so I would be less likely to go to a meet there, but Lansing would be a much easier drive for me.

I can say my apartment complex has an AWESOME luxury clubhouse available to rent with a full kitchen, a deck, lots of furniture, flat screen TV...super nice. I'm sure I could secure it for a pony event if you guys like the idea of coming to Ann Arbor!

I think a lunch would be cool ^^ maybe we could all just find a big open place to have lunch and show off our collections and chat pony or something, id love to just be able to make more friends with pony interests in MI, and with a lunch we could i dunno just pay for ourselves instead of having to host a huge event, since it doesnt look like we have enough people so far to have an actual event.

also GR sounds good, I love it there and i need an excuse to go museum hopping again
